Swings are made for fun
Swings provide soothing and relaxation properties for children through motion. Although children don’t care about the educational value and just enjoy the motion and interaction they obtain from swinging, swings are ideally suited for teaching children how to balance and develop their muscles.
Jungle Gym World manufactures all types to fit every age group according to the highest standards of safety.
The two main types available with wooden jungle gyms are the double structure with 2 types of seats and the single seater. You can select from a wide range of seats including wooden, tyre, wood and steel, steel, flat plastic, and baby chairs. Several types of brightly colored steel swings are also available. The 2 seater and 4 seater “A Frame” swings are ideal for social development and young children playing together. The sturdy frames are built and balanced to provide seated double motion fun.
The carousel includes 4 seats set in an overhead stand with a round tube in the middle. It is suited for one to four children who create a carousel motion through the use of the round steering wheel in the middle. Children have hours of fun on this type of playground equipment.
Forward and backward motion and balancing can be taught in a fun way through the see-saw swings where two kids sit back to back, while holding onto the grip poles. They create motion with the movement of their upper bodies together with their legs and feet, which are set on the pedals.
The normal playground 1, 2, and 3 seater implanted swings never lose their attraction. The combination of a 3 meter steel slide with two tyre swings and a double steering barrel is extremely popular. It provides ample play room together with a variety of activities. Except for the planted types, all the other types can be rented as well.
Parental interaction
Jungle Gym World’s swings provide parents the opportunity to interact with their children while teaching them how to work themselves forward and backwards. Fun and laughter can form part of teaching children balance and motion.
Safety precautions
- To prevent injuries don’t let children run past someone who is swinging as the swinging action cannot be halted immediately.
- Never allow children to stand while swinging.
- Only one child should be allowed on a seat.
- Let children lie on their bellies or sit on the seats.
- Teach children not to jump when they want to get down, but rather wait until the motion has stopped completely before they step off.
Teaching your child to master the motion action
Children can only fully master the skill to push and pull effectively on swings around the age of five years, but you can start to teach them even before they are two years old. Here is how:
- Place the child in the seat. Make sure that you have an age appropriate seat. Babies and toddlers should be placed in seats with backs to prevent them from falling backwards. Jungle Gym World offers tyre and baby chair seats for this age group. Older children can use open back seats also available as part of the range offered by Jungle Gym World.
- Let your child hold onto the ropes or chains with both hands.
- Teach your child to pull on the chains by adapting the body’s center of gravity through the motion of swinging forward and backward with the upper body.
- Next, teach your child to move the legs forward when the upper body moves backwards and to pull the legs back when the upper body moves forward. This will start the motion.
- Now gently push the seat to help your child.
- If you push the seat from behind you can speak in a soft tone so that your child would want to lean backwards to hear you, while you can also stand in front and do the same. The child will lean forward to hear what you say.
- Explain how it works and gently push the seat until he or she gets the hang of it.
The swings available from Jungle Gym World are constructed with child safety in mind. It is for this reason that only the highest quality wood, steel, tires, and plastics are used in the manufacturing of our swings. |
