Safety tips

To protect your children against possible injuries encourage them to:
- Always use the ladder or steps to get to the top and never climb up from the sliding surface side. Other children may be on their way down, which can cause serious injuries.
- Never jump from slides, which can result in head or back injuries and broken arms or legs.
- Always sit or lie on their backs when they go down the sliding surface. They should never attempt to go down on their tummies with the head first.
- Always wait until the previous slider reached the bottom and has moved away before they descend.
- Not to slide in groups.
- Make sure that only one person is on the platform at a time to prevent pushing and possible falls.
- Take one step at a time when they climb up the steps and hold onto the supporting rails with both hands.
- Not to drink or eat while sliding down.
- Never push other children while on the platform.
- Not too use liquid to make the surface more slippery as a wet surface can cause children to move too fast and sustain injuries when they reach the bottom.
- Always check if the surface is not too hot during hot summer days.
How to check for unsafe conditions
Adults should always inspect any play area before allowing children to make use of the equipment. Check for bottles, pieces of broken glass, sharp objects, stones, sticks, ropes lying around, and loose bolts and nuts. Remove anything that can pose a danger to children.Inspect your home outdoor equipment for any broken parts such as loose planks, nuts and bolts, tears in the cargo netting and weak fences on platforms at least once a week. Steel equipment should be free of rust spots and wooden frames free of splinters and holes. Plastic surfaces must be in good condition with no signs of cracking.
