The jungle gym was designed in 1920 by a lawyer named Sebastian Hinton and patented by him. It was his aim to give children a safe environment to climb in. He envisioned child development, such as swinging and crouching and performing imaginative play, transforming the jungle gym into a fort, a castle or other structure for their purposes. He envisioned his creation being used on playgrounds for child development, as it provides hours of amusement and enjoyment and perhaps quite unbeknown to the children, plays a positive role in their mental and physical health and development.
At Jungle Gym World, we design various configurations of jungle gyms that show the opportunities the child has of increasing mobility and physical co-ordination skills, which are necessary in development. Gross motor development is an important part of child development, and our jungle gyms will provide an outlet for a child's desire to move, stretch, climb and clamber over things, while at the time learning to listen to their bodies.
Curling their fingers, arms or legs towards or away from their bodies, around a jungle gym cross piece or away from it, is the perfect physical co-ordination exercise as they learn to balance and in the same process they become skilled at co-ordinating the left and right side of their bodies.
By frequently playing on our exciting, colourful and highly entertaining jungle gyms, children learn to manage the force of gravity and how to use their bodies in a space that has certain limitations and obstacles. As they develop these skills, they become confident and learn to trust their bodies, knowing when not to push too far or when to push a little bit further.
For outstanding child development skills, we at Jungle Gym World recommend highly that you equip your school playground with our jungle gyms and watch the children become physically strong, making them happy, healthy and sure of themselves.
